One Final Dance? Remembering Dev Anand

I am very saddened to hear of Dev Anand's passing today. He was a legend in Hindi Films. And, I was very privileged to have the opportunity to meet him several times and even interview him when he was in Nepal in 2005.

In his honor, I share never-before-released footage of my interview with him. Though this footage never made it into the final cut of Dancing Kathmandu, it felt like the right thing to share it with the world:

I also share his inspired prologue at the Nepal Film Festival press conference in 2005. As most Nepalis know, this was a very difficult time for Nepal and Dev Anand managed to negotiate his presence at a controversial event with refinement and grace:

And, it wouldn't be a tribute to Dev Anand if we did not remember his historical roles as as an actor that shaped an era in Hindi cinema. He brought us much song-and-dance and understood the ways in which these sequences enriched Hindi cinema.

Here he is Guide with Waheeda Rehman:

And here is the controversial and yet ever so enduring Dum Maro Dum from the film Hare Rama Hare Krishna 1971:

Rest in peace. In Memory.
