Announcing dance classes in Pasadena (January 2011)

We are happy to announce that Bollynatyam (that is Sangita for now) will be teaching Indian Classical / Bollywood Dance classes at the Lineage Performing Arts Center in Pasadena, California. More information below.

The last decades have brought exciting innovations to the world of Indian dance as dancers trained in classical dance enrich and combine their training with contemporary movement. Sometimes spiritual, sometimes Bollywood-like, contemporary Indian dance is an eclectic, catchy, and deeply rooted fusion dance form. In this class, we experience contemporary approaches to Indian dance. This class will draw on Indian classical, folk, Bollywood, and contemporary movement to create short dance sequences. All are welcome!

Taught by Sangita Shresthova - Called a “Nepali swan” Sangita is a Czech/Nepali dancer and choreographer who trained in Bharata Natyam (Chennai), as well as Charya Nritya (Nepalese Dance), Kalaripayat (South Indian martial art), contemporary dance and Bollywood Dance (Mumbai) and received the Council for the Arts Wiesner award for her work in Bollywood dance and new media. She has performed and taught Indian classical and new choreography in Sri Lanka, India, Belgium, Germany, Nepal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and United States. more info: www.bollynatyam.com
